A special Hebrew channel reported on Thursday that the Israeli army is preparing to issue warnings to Palestinians to evacuate the city of Gaza "in the coming days," as part of Tel Aviv's plan to fully occupy the city.
This comes as part of the ongoing genocide that Israel has been carrying out against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip for nearly two years.
The channel '14' stated that the operation 'Gideon Vehicles 2' will include "a wide aerial fire campaign next week, followed by a ground operation aimed at achieving complete operational control over the city of Gaza and evacuating its residents."
On Wednesday, the Israeli army launched an aggression named 'Gideon Vehicles 2' to completely occupy the city of Gaza (north), which sparked criticism and protests in Israel, fearing for the lives of the captives and soldiers.
The channel '14' noted that the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Eyal Zamir, visited the Gaza perimeter on Wednesday and assessed the situation on the ground, confirming the continuation of operations.
Earlier on Thursday, reserve general in the Israeli army, Isaac Brik, described the plan to occupy the city of Gaza as "unattainable," warning that it would lead to "catastrophic results" and would not defeat Hamas.
Brik, a former commander of the armored division and former head of military colleges, stated that the plan was "imposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the army, after strong opposition from Chief of Staff Zamir."
He mentioned in an article in the Hebrew newspaper 'Maariv' that "Zamir told the cabinet that it is a death trap for the army's soldiers and the captives," referring to the Israeli captives in Gaza.
Tel Aviv estimates that there are 48 Israeli captives in Gaza, 20 of whom are alive, while around 11,100 Palestinians are imprisoned in its jails suffering from torture, starvation, and medical neglect, with many reported dead, according to Palestinian and Israeli human rights and media reports.
On August 18, Hamas agreed to a proposal from mediators regarding a partial ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza, but Israel did not respond to the mediators, despite the terms matching a previous proposal put forth by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, which Tel Aviv had agreed to.
Instead, Netanyahu is pushing for the occupation of the city of Gaza under the pretext of releasing the captives and defeating Hamas, amid significant skepticism about the feasibility of achieving this from opponents and former officials, and the Israeli army's confirmation that the operation poses a danger to the lives of the captives.
With U.S. support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 64,231 deaths and 161,583 injuries, most of whom are children and women, along with thousands missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and famine that has killed 370 Palestinians, including 131 children.
The occupation continues its genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip for nearly two years.
