The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip announced on Monday that only 534 aid trucks entered the strip over 5 days out of an expected 3,000 trucks, and that they "were subjected to looting and theft."
During the past five days (from Tuesday to Saturday), only 534 aid trucks entered the Gaza Strip, out of the expected 3,000 trucks.
They were subjected to looting and theft amid deliberate security chaos created by the Israeli occupation as part of a policy of engineering starvation and chaos, aimed at undermining the resilience of our Palestinian people.
The total number of trucks that entered over the course of 35 days was only 3,188 aid trucks out of the expected quantity of 21,000 trucks, meaning that only about 15% of the actual needs have been met.
The office confirmed that these quantities were subjected to looting and theft, as the occupation prevents the entry of aid trucks in sufficient quantities.
The occupation continues to prevent securing what enters in terms of aid trucks, and continues to close the crossings and undermine the work of humanitarian institutions.
Since March 2, Israel has closed all crossings leading to Gaza, preventing any humanitarian aid, which has plunged the strip into famine despite the accumulation of relief trucks at its borders.
About a month ago, it allowed limited quantities of aid to enter that do not meet the minimum needs of the starving, and famine continues.
The Israeli occupation continues its siege on the Gaza Strip by completely closing the crossings for more than six consecutive months, preventing the entry of 430 types of basic food items.
In addition to depriving civilians of hundreds of other items, the occupation prohibits the entry of a list of vital food materials.
The Gaza Strip needs more than 600 different aid trucks daily to meet the minimum needs of 2.4 million people.
The occupation and its allies bear full responsibility for the humanitarian disaster, and called on the United Nations, Arab and Islamic countries, and the international community to take serious action to open the crossings.
