Netanyahu encourages settler attacks in the West Bank and hints at the imminent annexation of it.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a speech, encouraged settlers to continue their assaults against Palestinian citizens in the occupied West Bank, hinting at the imminent annexation of the territory. This came during a celebration of the approval for the construction of 17 new settlements in the West Bank, where Netanyahu expressed his confidence in the 'heroism of our children.'

Netanyahu indicated that the daily assaults faced by Palestinians are part of protecting what he calls 'the Land of Israel.' He mentioned that Israel is reinforcing its sovereignty in the West Bank, which effectively means it is imposing its annexation, contradicting the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state.

His statements coincided with the escalation of aggression against the Gaza Strip, where the occupation army and settlers in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, have killed at least 1,016 Palestinians, injured about 7,000 others, and arrested more than 18,500 Palestinians.

Netanyahu recalled his promise 25 years ago not to allow the establishment of a Palestinian state, noting that Israel is working to strengthen its presence in the West Bank. He also hinted that Israel is closer than ever to applying sovereignty over the West Bank.

The annexation of the West Bank is officially considered the end of the two-state solution, as stipulated by United Nations resolutions, and reflects the ongoing policy of occupation in displacing Palestinians, demolishing homes, and accelerating settlement.

Since the beginning of the aggression against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Israel has committed crimes that pave the way for the annexation of the West Bank, leading to a worsening of the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories. Israel has ignored international calls to stop the aggression.

The genocide in Gaza has resulted in a large number of martyrs and wounded, with the death toll reaching 62,819 and the injured 158,629, reflecting the magnitude of the humanitarian disaster that Palestine is suffering under occupation.
