A large majority of Israelis deny the existence of innocents in the Gaza Strip.

A survey conducted by the "Acord" center showed that a large majority of Israelis, reaching 76%, believe that there are no innocents in the Gaza Strip. This survey comes at a time when the occupying state has been waging a genocide against the Palestinians for nearly 23 months, with increasing assaults on civilians, including targeting journalists.

The survey, conducted between August 11 and 13, included 912 Israelis and showed that 63% of participants believe that the release of all Palestinian prisoners is more important than defeating Hamas. Many also believe that the Israeli government can end the war as part of a comprehensive prisoner exchange deal.

While 59% of respondents believe that the Israeli government, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, is not doing its utmost to secure the release of prisoners, the results showed that 62% of Israelis agree that there are no innocents in Gaza, although this percentage has decreased from a previous survey.

The results indicate that Israeli public opinion is significantly influenced by official discourse, as 71% of voters in the ruling coalition believe that global public opinion is important during the war. Additionally, 59% of the public believe that the occupying state is trying to avoid killing innocents, while 28% believe that the occupation is not attempting to do so.

The occupying state estimates that there are 50 Israeli prisoners in Gaza, while more than 10,800 Palestinians are imprisoned, suffering from torture and medical neglect. Hamas has announced its readiness to release prisoners in exchange for ending the aggression, but the Israeli government is imposing new conditions.

Since October 7, 2023, the occupying state has committed genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, resulting in 62,819 martyrs and 158,629 injured, most of whom are children and women. It has also caused the displacement of hundreds of thousands and a famine that has claimed the lives of many Palestinians.
