"Education": 18,489 students have been martyred and 232 schools and universities have been completely destroyed since the beginning of the aggression.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced that the Israeli aggression that began on October 7 against the Gaza Strip and the West Bank has resulted in the martyrdom of 18,489 students and the injury of 28,854 others. These figures reflect the magnitude of the humanitarian disaster affecting educational institutions in Palestine.

According to the statement, the number of students who were martyred in the Gaza Strip exceeded 18,346, while 143 students were martyred in the West Bank, highlighting the significant gap in the impact of the aggression on different Palestinian areas.

The statement also indicated that 970 teachers and administrative staff were martyred and 4,533 were injured, reflecting the significant impact of the aggression on the educational staff, with more than 199 arrested in the West Bank.

The destruction of schools has had a devastating effect on the educational process, as 160 government schools were completely destroyed in the Gaza Strip, in addition to 63 university buildings. Furthermore, 118 government schools and 93 schools belonging to UNRWA were subjected to bombing and vandalism.

In the West Bank, 152 schools were vandalized and 8 universities and colleges faced repeated incursions, leading to universities relying on electronic attendance due to the current circumstances.

The ministry confirmed that the aggression has not only affected buildings but has also led to the removal of 25 schools from the educational registry, meaning a loss of education for a large number of students.

This situation calls for a concerted effort from local and international communities to protect education in Palestine and ensure the rights of students and teachers to have a safe educational environment.
