The residents of the besieged Gaza Strip woke up on Tuesday morning to a series of violent air and artillery strikes launched by the Israeli occupation army, resulting in the death of at least 20 Palestinians and injuring dozens with varying degrees of wounds. These strikes come at a time when the strip is suffering from a suffocating blockade and a severe shortage of resources.
Medical sources in the strip's hospitals, including Al-Shifa Medical Complex and the European Hospital, confirmed that rescue and civil defense teams are still working to retrieve victims from under the rubble of residential buildings that were targeted, noting that the number of martyrs is expected to rise in the coming hours.
The strikes were distributed across several vital and populated areas throughout the strip, with the city of Khan Younis in the south being targeted, leading to the highest number of martyrs and injuries. The Jabalia camp in the north was also bombarded, resulting in massive destruction of infrastructure and homes.
In Gaza City, airstrikes targeted areas in the Shuja'iyya and Zaitoun neighborhoods, causing panic among the residents. Rescue teams are facing significant difficulties in reaching all targeted areas due to the continued intensive flying of occupation aircraft and the destruction inflicted on the roads.
These attacks exacerbate the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, which suffers from a prolonged blockade and a severe shortage of medical, food, and fuel resources. The Ministry of Health in Gaza warned that the exhausted hospitals are operating beyond their capacity.
The Ministry of Health issued urgent appeals to the international community and humanitarian organizations for immediate intervention to stop the "massacre" and to open safe corridors for the entry of urgent medical and relief aid to the besieged strip.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza is worsening with the continuation of aggression and assaults.
