Slovenia has sent humanitarian aid to Jordan, in preparation for its delivery to the besieged Gaza Strip. This aid comes at a time when Palestinians are suffering from harsh conditions due to the ongoing aggression.
The humanitarian aid, which includes food supplies and blankets, arrived in Jordan via a military transport aircraft. The Slovenian government confirmed in its statement that this aid was prepared using resources from the Slovenian army.
Slovenian Defense Minister, Marjan Šarec, emphasized the importance of this aid, pointing to the necessity of supporting people living under war conditions. He confirmed that the aid will be transported in batches to Jordan, and then sent to Gaza.
Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has been subjected to comprehensive Israeli aggression, leading to a genocide that includes killing, starvation, and destruction. These actions disregard international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to stop the aggression.
Statistics indicate that the Israeli aggression has resulted in the martyrdom of 62,122 Palestinians, and the injury of 156,758 others, most of whom are children and women. There are also more than 9,000 missing persons and hundreds of thousands displaced.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza is worsening, as the region suffers from famine that has claimed the lives of 269 people, including 112 children. These figures reflect the magnitude of the humanitarian disaster that Palestinians are experiencing under occupation.
