The head of the Egyptian General Authority for Information confirmed in statements that Egypt is making intensive efforts to reach a ceasefire in the besieged Gaza Strip. He pointed out that the Egyptian and Qatari mediators have presented a new proposal based on the Witekoff proposal, reflecting their commitment to seeking solutions to the crisis.
He explained that the Palestinian factions responded to the proposal without any reservations, reflecting their readiness to cooperate to achieve peace. The proposal has been sent to the occupying state, which means that the ball is now in its court to make the appropriate decision.
The head of the General Authority for Information added that he hopes the occupying state will find in this proposal an exit to face the internal pressures it is experiencing to stop the aggression. He considered that the opportunity is available for it to avoid unrealistic goals in light of the crises it faces.
He noted that this proposal represents an opportunity for Netanyahu's government, and if the occupying state agrees to it, it could be a precursor to a comprehensive solution to the crisis. He emphasized the importance of American pressure on the occupation to accept the proposal as a preliminary step towards a comprehensive solution.
He stressed that Hamas's approval has placed the Israeli side in a crisis and an opportunity at the same time, affirming that the Gaza Strip needs urgent rescue, and the situation cannot afford to wait.
Under these circumstances, hope remains pinned on the ability of the Egyptian and Qatari mediators to achieve tangible progress towards stopping the aggression and achieving peace in the region.
I hope that Israel finds in the proposal an exit to face the internal pressures to stop the war.
