More than a hundred non-governmental organizations expressed their concern in a joint letter regarding the new rules established by the Israeli authorities, which are increasingly used to reject requests for the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip. These rules hinder the efforts of humanitarian organizations and negatively impact the lives of Palestinians.
The letter indicates that the Israeli occupation has rejected at least 60 requests to enter humanitarian aid during the month of July alone, resulting in large quantities of aid being left in warehouses in Jordan, Egypt, and Ashdod, including food, medicine, water, and emergency supplies.
The new rules, which have been implemented since March, include strict registration requirements that necessitate the submission of lists of Palestinian workers for security checks. The organizations consider these requirements illegal, as they threaten the safety of teams and harm the independence of humanitarian work.
Since the beginning of March, the occupying authorities have closed all crossings leading to Gaza, preventing any humanitarian aid from entering the sector, which is suffering from a severe humanitarian crisis. Despite relief trucks piling up at the border, the occupation allows only limited quantities to enter, which do not meet the minimum needs of the population.
These conditions coincide with the escalation of Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 7, 2023, where the occupation forces have committed mass atrocities with American support, resulting in the martyrdom of more than 61,000 Palestinians and the injury of 154,000 others, most of whom are children and women.
The occupying state ignores international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to cease the aggression, further increasing the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and deepening the humanitarian crisis they are experiencing.
The organizations affirm that the situation in Gaza has reached a state of famine, with 227 people, including 103 children, having died due to a lack of food and medicine, necessitating urgent international action to save civilians.
The Israeli authorities rejected the requests of dozens of non-governmental organizations to enter life-saving supplies.
