Egyptian source: Hamas confirmed its keenness to quickly return to Gaza negotiations.

An Egyptian source confirmed that Hamas has shown its eagerness to quickly return to negotiations for a ceasefire and de-escalation, as part of the efforts being made to end the war in the besieged Gaza Strip.

A delegation from Hamas, headed by Khalil al-Hayya, met with the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence, Hassan Mahmoud Rashad, to discuss ways to advance de-escalation efforts in Gaza, where the movement emphasized the importance of these negotiations.

Egypt is working to intensify its communications with all concerned parties to reach a comprehensive ceasefire, paving the way for the end of the war that has been ongoing since October 7, 2023.

In a related context, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty announced that Cairo is cooperating with Qatar and the United States to return to the proposal for a sixty-day truce, which was raised in the last round of indirect negotiations.

The proposal includes a ceasefire for 60 days, with the release of 10 Israeli prisoners, in addition to the return of the bodies of 18 other prisoners, in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners and an increase in humanitarian aid.

Tel Aviv estimates that there are 50 Israeli prisoners in Gaza, while more than 10,800 Palestinians are held in Israeli prisons, suffering from harsh conditions.

Israel withdrew from indirect negotiations with Hamas after its stubbornness regarding withdrawal from Gaza, leading to a worsening humanitarian situation in the enclave.

Hamas has repeatedly announced its readiness to release Israeli prisoners in exchange for ending the war, but the Israeli government prefers partial deals to ensure the continuation of the war.

Since the beginning of the aggression, Israeli military operations have resulted in more than 61,000 martyrs and 154,000 injured, leading to a suffocating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
