Haaretz: All of Netanyahu's Lies About the Gaza Plan

The Haaretz newspaper seeks to analyze the statements of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding his plan to control the Gaza Strip, noting that Netanyahu uses softening language to minimize the damage caused by his military plan. The newspaper clarifies that Netanyahu promotes the idea that his plan is not a complete occupation of Gaza, but is limited to the city of Gaza only.

In his statements, Netanyahu confirmed that he aims to hand over the civil administration of Gaza to 'Arab forces', indicating that neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority will take over governance in Gaza. However, Haaretz believes that these statements are nothing but deception, as history suggests that Israel may act in a completely different manner.

The newspaper asserts that there is ample evidence, and that Netanyahu's statements about this plan being temporary and limited are not true. According to the newspaper, Israel seeks to maintain security and military control in Gaza while offering civil control to another party, raising questions about the intentions of the occupation.

When asked about Israel's intention to control Gaza, Netanyahu replied that he 'intends to do so', which increases doubts about his plan. The newspaper also points out that no Arab state is willing to take on the role of ruler in Gaza, making it difficult to believe Netanyahu's claims.

Haaretz discusses the gap between Netanyahu's statements in English and Hebrew, where he appears more balanced and calm in English, while in Hebrew he shows annoyance and impatience. This reflects the tension surrounding his plan.

The newspaper also reviews the history of the Israeli occupation, noting that Israel has not stopped at certain borders, but has transformed temporary seizure operations into permanent occupation, making it hard to believe that control over the city of Gaza will be temporary.

Haaretz concludes by emphasizing that the false dichotomy between security and civil control is merely a lie, and that the future will be painful if the statements of the Israeli government are subjected to the scrutiny of reality.
