Smotrich Continues His Settlement Escalation and Raises Anti-Arab Slogans in the West Bank

In an escalatory step reflecting the occupation government's trend towards settlement expansion, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich approved the establishment of thousands of new settlement units in northern West Bank, ignoring international objections and the rights of the Palestinian people. Smotrich exploited his powers as the head of the civil administration to push forward construction and expansion plans, in an attempt to impose a new reality on the ground that threatens the future of a potential Palestinian state.

This coincided with Smotrich's participation in settlers' incursions in various areas of the West Bank, where he pledged to provide full protection and support for settlement outposts, in violation of international laws that consider settlement expansion illegal and a blatant violation of the rights of the Palestinian people. During these events, he raised racist slogans such as 'death to Arabs', clearly indicating the rise of hate speech and incitement against Palestinians, which has become recurrent in far-right marches.

In the context of his escalatory practices, Smotrich led an incursion into the 'Sanur' settlement site, where he pledged to legitimize the settlement outpost and provide full protection for the settlers, in a blatant challenge to the international community and international legitimacy decisions. These actions are part of a systematic policy aimed at intensifying settlement construction, demolishing Palestinian homes, and imposing control over as much Palestinian land as possible, deepening the suffering of the residents and threatening the chances of establishing an independent Palestinian state.
