Hebrew media reveals details of the occupation government's meeting regarding Gaza and the cost of controlling the sector

The Hebrew newspaper Israel Hayom revealed on Tuesday that Israeli occupation government Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not invite National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to participate in the high-level meeting held to discuss future steps regarding the Gaza Strip.

The newspaper indicated that initial estimates suggest that the cost of imposing full control over the sector may range between 2.9 and 5.8 billion dollars, while the issue remains under discussion within the cabinet, amid sharp disagreements among government members regarding the feasibility of this option and its long-term economic and military implications.

The newspaper quoted a government official as saying that "the financial costs of this control are still under discussion in the corridors of the government," amid a clear division between political and military institutions regarding the feasibility of implementing such an option, and the potential consequences on both economic and security fronts.

This discussion comes at a time when tensions in Gaza are escalating, with ongoing military escalation, amid fears of wide-ranging repercussions on the region, especially with the continued blockade imposed on the sector and the increasing pace of military operations by the occupation.
