International criticism of Israel escalates and its global image deteriorates amid the ongoing war on Gaza

International criticism of Israeli policies is escalating, especially following the continuation of the war on the Gaza Strip, where global newspapers have revealed the heavy costs Israel is paying as a result, which have largely failed to achieve its objectives, to the point that international support for it has begun to noticeably decline.

The Jerusalem Post highlighted the significant costs incurred by Israel and raised questions about its delay in withdrawing from the Gaza Strip, noting that Israel is paying a heavy price beyond imagination, with 900 soldiers killed and thousands injured, alongside an unprecedented rise in suicide cases among the army, reflecting the depth of the psychological crisis facing the Israeli military.

In an article for Yedioth Ahronoth, writer Oron Nahari stated that Israel's image before the world has significantly deteriorated, as it has become a "toxic brand," after being supported by most countries, and it has become difficult for the media to confront the negative image it portrays of starving children in Gaza, warning that Israel should have anticipated this before reaching this level of international isolation.

In the American press, writer Jackie Coles expressed the impossibility of defending Benjamin Netanyahu's policies, who is facing legal prosecution, warning that this threatens the historic American support for Israel and increases the rift in relations between the two countries, noting that Israel, which was once a symbol of global sympathy, is now responsible for horrific images from Gaza, reflecting a significant moral and political failure.

In a report by The Guardian, observers noted that Israel has closed 88% of the investigations into violations committed by its forces in Gaza, without reaching any conclusions or punishing the perpetrators, including the killing of hundreds of Palestinians who were trying to obtain food supplies, reflecting a pattern of impunity that threatens regional stability and exacerbates international tensions.

In a related context, The New York Times discussed a lawsuit filed by the families of the victims of the October 7, 2023 massacre against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), accusing it of supporting Hamas and the Lebanese Hezbollah, following a shift in the American stance towards the agency during Trump's presidency, which opens the door to imposing sanctions on institutions linked to it and complicates the political situation in the region.
