US President Donald Trump's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, said Thursday that the United States has decided to withdraw its team from the ceasefire negotiations in Doha for consultations.
In a post on his X account, Witkov added that the move came after Hamas's latest response to the mediators' amended ceasefire proposal.
He considered the movement's response "clearly demonstrates a lack of desire to reach a ceasefire in Gaza," noting that his country would consider alternative options for returning the hostages to their homes and attempting to create a more stable environment for the people of Gaza.
He continued, "Despite the great efforts made by the mediators, Hamas does not appear to be coordinating or acting in good faith."
