The Israeli occupation army announced on Saturday that two soldiers, including an officer, were injured in fighting in the southern Gaza Strip.
In a statement, the Israeli army said that "an officer from the 710th Engineering Battalion, affiliated with the "Ram" Division (179), was seriously wounded in one of the battles in the southern Gaza Strip," without further details.
He added: "A reserve soldier from the 749th Engineering Battalion, affiliated with the 828th Brigade, was also seriously wounded earlier today during clashes that also took place in the southern Gaza Strip."
The statement continued: "The two injured were transferred to the hospital for treatment, and their families have been informed."
This comes as Israel has been waging an ongoing war of extermination on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, involving killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.
For days, Palestinian factions have been escalating their attacks against Israeli forces invading Gaza, committing genocide. This coincides with indirect negotiations in Qatar to conclude a prisoner exchange and ceasefire agreement.
Since the outbreak of the war on October 7, 2023, 893 Israeli officers and soldiers have been killed, including 449 since the ground invasion of the Gaza Strip on October 27.
Meanwhile, 6,108 officers and soldiers have been injured since the beginning of the war, including 2,803 since the invasion of the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli military data, which faces accusations of concealing its true losses.
With full American support, Israel has been committing genocidal crimes in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 199,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, more than 10,000 missing, and hundreds of thousands displaced.
