The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) expressed concern on Wednesday about the escalation of hostilities in Gaza City and Jabalia, amid reports that the Israeli occupation forces have killed dozens of civilians in the past 36 hours.
In a statement, the committee called for the protection of medical personnel and facilities in Gaza, noting that the escalation of hostilities comes "at a time when Gaza's already devastated healthcare system is struggling to cope with the continuing increase in critical cases."
"Almost all public hospitals in Gaza have been closed or severely damaged due to months of hostilities and restrictions on the entry of essential medicines and equipment," she added in her statement.
"The few medical facilities that are still operating, including the Red Cross field hospital, are overwhelmed and suffering from a severe shortage of basic supplies and fuel," she continued.
