The occupation no longer needs new evidence or proof to prove the ugliness of its crimes and racism. Its daily crimes are enough to reveal its true face to the world. What is happening in the towns of Bruqin and Kafr ad-Dik, west of Salfit Governorate, is a stark embodiment of this hideous face, as chapters of aggression continue relentlessly, in a scene that reflects the essence of this occupation and the depth of its oppressive and racist policies.
For the fifth consecutive day, Israeli occupation forces continue their assault on the two towns, leaving one martyr in Burqin and dozens of detainees, amid repeated raids on homes and businesses, and widespread destruction of civilian property.
The mayor of Bruqin, Faed Sabra, commented on what is happening: "The extent of the destruction that has befallen the town is unprecedented," noting that the occupation forces deliberately stormed homes, vandalized their contents, and stole gold jewelry, sums of money, and identification documents, in addition to abusing women, children, and the elderly. He stressed that the occupation forces transformed citizens' homes into military barracks after expelling their residents, and that their soldiers took souvenir photos inside them, in a scene that proves that it reflects the weakness of the occupation, the confusion of its army, and its failure to convince the world of its respect for human rights.
Sabra added, "The occupation bulldozers continue to level large areas of land and uproot trees, in an attempt to impose a new reality by force of arms, while sending additional military reinforcements to the area."
He continued, "The municipality of Burqin was not spared from the brutality of the aggression, as occupation soldiers stormed its building and destroyed its contents, including the service center, computers, and vital equipment."
The situation in Kafr ad-Dik is no better, with residents describing the situation as "catastrophic," amid the ongoing policy of collective punishment for the fifth consecutive day, clearly targeting more than 6,000 residents of the town. Citizens said that an atmosphere of terror and fear prevails among residents, especially children and women, who live in a state of constant apprehension and anxiety, fearing sudden raids, vandalism, arrest, torture, and eviction from their homes.
The occupation forces did not stop at their aggression against citizens and their property, but rather extended their aggression to include educational institutions and places of worship. The occupation forces raided the mosques of the two towns on more than one occasion, vandalized their contents, prevented the call to prayer and the establishment of prayers, and used the mosques' loudspeakers to announce the imposition of a curfew.
