The private Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth claimed on Saturday that a near-complete agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas to exchange prisoners.
The newspaper said, quoting what it described as informed political sources without revealing their identity, that "90 percent of the details of the prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas have been agreed upon."
The sources added: "Following the progress in the exchange deal talks, Steve Witkoff, US President-elect Donald Trump's envoy, made a surprise visit to Israel, where he met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu."
