Updated: Israel issues a decision to demolish 8 houses and 5 barracks in Jerusalem

Today, Monday, the Israeli occupation authorities issued a decision to demolish 8 houses and 5 barracks belonging to one family in the town of Anata, northeast of occupied Jerusalem.

Local sources reported that the occupation asked the Al-Fuhaidat family to evacuate 13 of its homes within 12 days, noting that the homes threatened with demolition belong to brothers and cousins from the Al-Fuhaidat family.

It is noteworthy that the Al-Fahidat family has been living in this area since the fifties of the last century. It is a small gathering of the Al-Fahidat family adjacent to the occupation camp, and the family has been living in these houses for decades before the camp existed.

Today, the occupation forces stormed the town of Issawiya, northeast of occupied Jerusalem, and notified a number of homes and facilities of demolition.

Local sources reported that members of the occupation municipality in Jerusalem, accompanied by the Israeli occupation police, distributed demolition notices in the town, and distributed summonses to their owners, under the pretext of building without a permit.

Since the beginning of the comprehensive Israeli aggression against our people on October 7, 2023, the occupation authorities have carried out more than 433 demolition and bulldozing operations of homes and facilities in the Jerusalem Governorate, including forcing citizens to demolish their homes by force to avoid the exorbitant costs imposed on them by the occupation in the event that its mechanisms carry out the demolition operation.

The occupation municipality in Jerusalem refuses to grant Palestinian citizens building permits, and demolishes or forces them to demolish their homes, in a procedure that contradicts international laws and humanitarian laws that guarantee the right to housing, within the framework of the occupation’s systematic practices to forcibly displace Palestinians from the city of Jerusalem, in exchange for expanding settlements in the city and its surroundings.
