Zelensky asks for more aid to Ukraine

As the world's attention turned to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Brussels to demand that Western countries continue their aid to his country.

"We talked about Ukraine's defense priorities and how to survive the coming winter," Zelensky told reporters before attending a meeting with NATO defense ministers.

"We need some support from the leaders. That's why I'm here today," he added in the presence of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Zelensky identified air defense systems as one of his priorities, saying, "We need tangible things and we need them at very specific geographical points on our land."

The meeting between NATO and Ukraine ensured more assistance for the Ukrainians to face the coming winter, as Stoltenberg said that the alliance would provide more cold-weather clothing, mine-clearing capabilities, fuel, and medical equipment “to help Ukraine face another difficult winter.”

The new pledge came at a time when clashes between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) captured the world's attention. As of Wednesday, more than 2,000 people had been killed and thousands more injured on both sides.
NATO defense ministers are scheduled to discuss the situation in the Middle East on Thursday, and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant is scheduled to join them via video link.
