Last night, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it was following up on initial reports of a boat sinking off the Greek coast .
The Political Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmad Al-Deek , said that the Embassy of the State of Palestine to Greece is following with interest the news about the rescue operation of a boat that was carrying more than 50 migrants after it sank in the Messinian Gulf, Greece.
Ambassador Al-Deek indicated that about 50 people, including women and children, were rescued, and there is preliminary information about the death of one of the migrants, and rescue operations and investigations by the Greek Coast Guard are still continuing since early Thursday morning.
"We are following this new tragedy to find out the nationalities of the immigrants who were on board this boat, wishing safety for our people wherever they are," he added.
