Widespread arrests and new assaults by settlers in the West Bank

Israeli occupation forces launched a wide campaign of arrests and raids at dawn today, Tuesday, targeting several provinces in the West Bank, while extremist settlers intensified their attacks and assaults on Palestinians.

Palestinian local sources reported that Israeli occupation forces stormed the cities of Nablus and Qalqilya in northern West Bank, conducting raids and arrests among citizens.

The sources added that the occupation forces also invaded Balata camp, the village of Kafr Qalil east of Nablus, the town of Yamoun west of Jenin, the town of Tammoun south of Tubas, the towns of Balaa and Anabta in the Tulkarm district, and the city of Yatta south of Hebron.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that 5 Palestinians from one family were injured by the gunfire of the occupation forces during their incursion into the town of Tammoun south of Tubas.

The occupation army opened fire on a vehicle carrying a family, including children, with one of the injuries being to the head. The Palestinian Red Crescent confirmed that its crew members were directly shot at while attempting to rescue the injured.

In a related context, settlers attacked in Wadi Sa'ir northeast of Hebron, where they set fire to lands belonging to Palestinians and also attacked Palestinian homes in the same area.

Settlers also attacked Palestinian farmers in the Wardan area at the outskirts of the town of Beit Ummar north of Hebron city.

Sources told Al Jazeera that settlers assaulted the farmers and prevented them from reaching their lands.

Palestinian eyewitnesses reported that an Israeli settler ran over a Palestinian girl on the settlement road leading to the town of Samu' south of Hebron in the West Bank.

Palestinian media outlets also published clips of a gathering of Palestinian youths to confront an attack launched by extremist settlers in the hill area of the town of Sinjil north of Ramallah.

Alongside the genocide in Gaza, the Israeli army and settlers have escalated their assaults in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, resulting in the martyrdom of at least 1,016 Palestinians and the injury of about 7,000 others, in addition to the arrest of more than 18,500 Palestinians, according to Palestinian data.

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide since October 7, 2023, resulting in 63,557 martyrs and 160,660 injured Palestinians - most of them children and women - more than 9,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and famine that has killed 348 Palestinians, including 127 children.
