Kazem Abu Khalaf, the spokesperson for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), warned of a serious deterioration in the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, noting that the rate of children entering malnutrition has reached 112 children daily. This figure reflects an escalating humanitarian crisis that requires urgent attention.
Abu Khalaf explained that the number of children entering the acute malnutrition phase has increased by 180% when comparing February (during the ceasefire) to June of last year. This alarming rise reflects the impact of the ongoing aggression on the lives of children in the region.
He added that the situation is not limited to children alone, but also includes pregnant women, many of whom are suffering from acute malnutrition. This leads to the birth of children with critical health conditions from their very first moments, further complicating the humanitarian crisis.
Many humanitarian organizations have warned that the continuation of the blockade and aggression against the Gaza Strip is exacerbating health and nutritional conditions. Children are the most affected, facing the risk of death due to lack of food and healthcare.
These figures indicate a failure of the international community to provide the necessary support to the region, as the humanitarian situation deteriorates daily. There must be an urgent response from the international community to save the lives of children and women in Gaza.
In light of these difficult circumstances, concerned parties must work to provide the necessary humanitarian assistance and alleviate the blockade imposed on the region. The lives of thousands of children and women depend on immediate action.
The lucky one now is the child who enters the circle of malnutrition but is still alive.
